Album review - Gliese

Gliese by Nem. 

Len X Gumi. That's definitely a rare and interesting pairing. This pairing was featured in the album Gliese by the producer Nem. To me, Nem's songs are often light and simple, and yet these songs have a immerse sentimental and romantic character to them. Some of Nem's hit songs include アリスにさよなら . The album Gliese contains everything, if not, more than what you would expect from a producer as popular as Nem.

Nem's songs are not your regular pop/rock songs.
While most of his songs have a upbeat tempo similar to those of the common rock band songs,
these songs often have a rather heavy and dark feel to them.
Furthermore, Nem is also an awesome utaite (singer)

Now, back to the album review.
This is Nem's second album, Gliesse which launched at the end of 2011.
Practically this album featured the many facets of Nem's music style.

First impressions:

• 星を渡る鳥 - As the cover song, it left a deep impression on me (I have to admit, I am a sucker when it comes to Len solo pieces)
• virgin suicides - Guess Rin ain't the only Kagamine twin who could do good rock song. Nevertheless, Nem is definitely impressive with his use of Len's voicebank.
• 夢喰い白黒バク - this song was once on the top spot of the Weekly VocaRan. Quickly listen to this song to find out why.

Second thoughts:

• Stoic Party - The electric guitar intro drawn me to this song while Len's vocals kept me clicking the replay button.
• Somatic Delusion - Kinda reminds me of his previous work,  アリスにさよなら
• A song flying to you - Well, I do have a soft spot for sentimental songs. And this song filled in that gap, along with other Vocaloids songs such as Just Be Friends.

Hatsune Miku Voted to be Wax Figure at Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds, a wax museum with branches in many major cities across the global which features wax replicas of famous people, has received over 6000 requests to create a Hatsune Miku wax figure.

The Bangkok, Thailand branch of Madame Tussauds posed the question on April 12, with multiple requests to be submitted via polls on the official Madame Tussuads Bangkok Facebook page. 

With 100 different requests submitted, standing at the top in 1st place is Hatsune Miku with 6,701 votes. In 2nd place is korean pop group, Super Junior with 5,318 votes, (a thousand vote difference with the leader) closely followed by Udom Taephanich, a popular Thai comedian with 5,021 votes in 3rd place.

Why exactly Hatsune Miku is considered for a wax figure rendition abroad instead in her own home country is puzzling her fans back home. This could be due to the current branch in Odaiba, Tokyo not being fully furnished as a complete Madame Tussauds musuem yet.

However, due to increasing popularity, Madame Tussauds Tokyo is set to open a full size permanent musuem at Decks Tokyo Beach mall, Odaiba this coming Spring, 2013 with fully themed areas and Japanese heroes and A-list superstars. 

At the moment, an ongoing survey is being conducted as to feature which celebrity in the new Madame Tussauds Tokyo, with different categories such as World Leaders, Sports and Music.

Producer Spotlight | Rerulili(Toushahi-P) / れるりり(当社比P)

Hello and welcome to VocaloidSync's first official blog post! I'm one of the authors Reigan and I'll be bringing you weekly producer spotlights and some of the latest Vocaloid news! Today I would like to write about producer Rerulili, you might probably know him from Mr. Music

To start off, let's have a listen at his most renowned work, Mr. Music.

Rerulili (or Toushahi-P) is a producer known for his wide musical knowledge and he is able to compose songs of different genres. His songs are usually pop, funk, rock and ballad genres. Let's take a look at Rerulili's first work

Itsumoyori Nakimushi na Sora feat. Hatsune Miku. He uploaded this work in the year 2009 and until now, this song is still as popular among the Vocaloid community. Itsumoyori Nakimushi na Sora successfully hit 2nd spot in the Weekly Vocaran #102, and since then, many people have been eyeing on this new promising producer.

True enough Rerulili delivered one after another without fail on what the fans expected (maybe more!) His next big hit was Knife and according to Rerulili this is a song of mixed genres including EDO, Funk, Afro, and Rock.


How about a funk song from Rerulili? He's one of my favourite producer who produces great funk songs


In addition, Rerulili himself is quite a good singer!


Rerulili can play the guitar, piano and bass very well too. So far, Rerulili has dished out 3 albums, Mugic, Mr. Music and Rhythmism.

As an attendee of MikuPa Singapore, I can't help but notice how similar the playlist is. About two-thirds of the song list is exactly the same, with some omissions and additions, most notably Kaito's Pane Dhriria, which is also his first appearance in a Vocaloid concert. Nevertheless, the organizers did improve in presentation, the lighting effects when Hatsune Miku no Gekishou played was especially stunning. 

Another notable difference is the utilization of a raised glass prism, which is used to project Miku and gang much higher than stage-level. This was used to great effect on certain songs, notably Hatsune Miku no Gekishou,where Miku actually flew up a little on those six wings. This setup was present in MikuPa Sapporo, but not at Singapore.

Overall, while I felt an almost total sense of deja vu at the first half of the concert, the second half differed enough to still make MikuPa 2012 a rather unique and memorable experience.

Now that they've played so many of the classics on Day 1, I'd expect many new songs to be played at tomorrow's Daikanshasai concert. Can anyone wish for Senbonzakura?

Are You Ready For 39?

It has been another year passed since last time it been held in Tokyo, and now here we are again, to celebrate one of the important Vocaloid event annually. This year it would be special as we will not only be having one, but two concert for two days straight. So people, ARE YOU READY FOR MIKUPA and 39's GIVING DAY 2012?!!

Sega is collaborating with MAGES(5pb) to bring this event to Tokyo City Dome Hall on 3/8 and 3/9. There will also be an afternoon concert and an evening concert on both days. The first day (3/8) will be a Miku’s Live Party (MikuPa) 2012 live show, while the second day (3/9) is Miku’s (Thanks)Giving Day. Pretty sure most of you would not have the chance to attend the concert personally, but do not fret. There is live stream from both NicoNico Douga and Nico English. Tickets cost around 40USD for both concert and honestly depending on the FOREX now, English is cheaper but the Japan one has more reliability in my personal opinion. So choos

e whatever best for you.

• March 8th - MikuPa 2012, starts at 7pm JST, ends approx 9-9.30pm
• March 9th - Miku no Hi Daikanshasai Concert, starts at 7pm JST, ends approx 9-9.30 local time

Oh, JST is Japan Time anyway.

Another important thing to take note is that, this time they are bringing some of the famous Vocaloid composers back as special guest and maybe even re-enacting the phenomenal 3

SEGA also has try to keep on the hype by releasing the preview of merchandises that are going to be sold on both days. While we could not be there to horde the goodies, at least our eyes would be satisfied and some of the merchandise give some interesting premonition.

So do you get it? The premonition I meant. I bet my dollars that MEIKO and KAITO will be finally be performing on this concert. Its the last concert for 39's Team and SEGA thus I do believe they going to plan something extravaganza. I dont know, perhaps Alice in Musicland?? Would be awesome if it will be like that.
